


Biography and Skills

An Iowa native, and a Cedar Rapids resident since 2015, Sam will both amplify the voice of the people, and give voice to those without one. She is a mum to both human children and adopted animals. After earning a Bachelor's in Animal Ecology and a Master's in Philanthropy and Non-Profit Development, Sam has a unique set of skills to offer the governance and policy oversight for the City of Cedar Rapids.
With a solid foundation within the non-profit sector honing skills in community building and outreach, along with grant writing and fundraising, Sam is ready to help our community thrive. As the as a representative of District 1, Sam would leverage her work experience in animal welfare, providing resources to those experiencing homelessness, and now a fusion of workforce development and environmental sustainability to support the overall health of our community. One of her key missions as an individual is to empower herself and others to make the most positive impact at home and in the broader community.
